Cory Lidle and his flying passion lead New York in Panic !

Cory Lidle, has been a pilot for about a year now. He took his pilot's license during the last off-season.He bought a four-seat airplane for $187,000 $. It was a Cirrus SR20, model of 2002, with approximately 400 service hours.
Lidle was , 34, lived in West Covina,in California around 20 miles east of Los Angeles. During a trip to Arizona lately, Lidle met a former teammate, Tom Wilson, whose friend is a pilot.

Lidle discovered the posibilities of flying his own plane and soon flying became his second pashion to baseball. He had never flown before, but he decided to take lessons while of season.
For the Yankees that was a sensitive topic since, Thurman Munson, was killed in plane crash in 1979.
Lidle said that the whole plane has a parachute on it.
He said also very confindent words about this system, expressing that 'ninety-nine percent of pilots that go up never have engine failure, and the 1 percent that do usually land it. But if you're up in the air and something goes wrong, you pull that parachute, and the whole plane goes down slowly.'

The next day after the Phillies' season ended he started lessons with his instructor Tyler Stanger. They flew together to Long Beach that day.Cory had the money and time to invest to his training so he did his training. He met his instructor two times per week for three to four hours at a time. His instructor passed him from all emergency tests and said that he was one of his best students. He laso said that "Cory Lidle is a natural"

Flying has become a passion for Lidle, who said he had spent more than a hundred solo hours in the air.
One of his statements was: 'Now I can go to Pebble Beach if I want, and instead of driving there for five hours, I can fly there in an hour and 45 minutes. I can go to Arizona to golf, or Vegas, wherever.'

And another the day after he was traded is to criticized his former Phillies teammates for their effort near the trade deadline. Lidle said he was not thinking before he spoke and nearly forgot about the call because he was outside in the heat, cleaning his plane.
