Concrete Stain - Set Yourself Apart From Your Neighbors

 

Concrete stain is a very effective way to add beauty and uniqueness to any project.
You can simulate natural stone or create a unique faux finish or a marbling effect in many different colors and combinations on your concrete.

There are many colors combinations to choose from and endless design ideas to explore.

Concrete stain can be used on:
Stamped concrete
Multiple colors in one design on flat work
New or existing concrete

Concrete stain can be used over:
Integral color
Dry shake color hardener
Colored release agent
Clear liquid release

How long will it last?
Concrete stain uses a chemical reaction with the concrete making it become part of the concrete surface.

Structural Materials uses two manufacturers of concrete stain:
- Solomon Colors - Concrete Stain Unique Characteristic - Transparent marbling look
- Scofield Systems Lithochrome Chemstain Classic (Stain system) Unique Characteristic Ideal for natural stone shading and faux finishes

How do you apply it?

Ready to go out of the jug.
Concrete stains can be applied with a sprayer or a brush for small areas.
*New Concrete - allow 30 days for concrete to cure.
*Existing Concrete Remove sealers, curing compounds, oil, and paint.

How do I know my concrete is cleaned?
*DO NOT use acid to clean the concrete before staining.
Test by wetting the concrete, if the water beads up, then it needs more preparation work, if it doesnt then you are good to stain.

Limitations of the stain?
Concrete that has been saturated with oil may not allow the chemical reaction.
Concrete that has a color hardener may change the colored effect of the stain.
Important: Green stains are for indoor use only because they react with moisture and will turn dark.
