What Are Good Foods To Eat?

For many people, the question of what are good foods to eat never arises. They simply eat by instinct, and that instinct leads then to where the good food is. But for the majority of us in today's fast-food culture, the question of what are good foods to eat never arises either! We eat badly, and that's the plain truth. Here are a few of my ideas for improving your everyday diet...

1. Vegetables ARE good for you. And not just the greens. Eat them fresh, unprocessed and if cooked, then try steaming them; it keeps more of the goodness in. The 'above ground' type of vegetable is better for you than the 'below ground type. Things like Cabbage, broccoli and Brussels sprouts are near perfect!

2. Wholegrain foods and whole brown rice are extremely good for you. In their 'raw' state they retain their fiber, minerals and vitamins that get lost with refining. White rice may look better, but it doesn't have the same goodness in it. Avoid anything with the word 'enriched' in it's description. It isn't!

3. Berries and fruit have no fat at all. But they do have lotos of vitamins and fiber - and they taste so good too!

4. Legumes may be a fancy word that you're not familiar with, but it simply describes things like lentils, beans and soy. These things are great for fiber, they have next to no fat and they're very nutritional as well.

5. Red wine! Yes, this is the good news. OK, I'm not advocating a booze-up, but a glass or two (not three, four or five) a day IS very good for you. Red wine has flavonoids, which protects blood cholesterol. Don't take white wine and expect the same results; it's the red stuff that is best for you.

What foods are good for you? Well, all foods to some extent. But if you eat the very best of foods that are good for you, you will be doing all you can to help live longer, healthier and even happier too.
