We Are Better Than This, Aren't We?

When we look at the problems and challenges of our civilization, sometimes we have to shake our heads? Why did we build such a crappy bridge? Why was that runway never extended? Why were those tracks never repaired? Why wasnt that airplane inspected better or even replaced? How come that building was built three miles from a known Earthquake fault without re-enforcements? Why was that city build under sea level so close to the ocean? Why would anyone build a one story wooden home that close to the ocean surf in a known Hurricane Zone? We Are Better Than This, arent we? Well, you tell me because these are just a few of the things I have asked myself since Oct of 2005.

Look here is the deal, we cannot keep making the same mistakes and dooming ourselves to repeat the past, that is a silly notion to aspire too. We are better than this, arent we? Why are we always making the same mistakes, as we attack each other and divide our nation? Why are we over regulating and over lawyering our citizens, small businesses, corporations and public sector? Whose team are we on anyway? It is silly for General Motors for instance to repeat the Deming Years and equally nuts for us to relive the oil shortages of the 1970s. We are simply gluttons for punishment as we enter the next period only to repeat a prior one. Sure with a few more technological gadgets granted, but come one folks. We are better than this arent we? Think on this in 2006.
