The Origin Of Pets: A Slightly Different Twist

I have to admit the "Origin of Pets" is not origial. I wish it was because it is delightful. Then why am I sending this to ezinearticles.com? There are three reasons.

Reason number one: It was written anonymously and submitted to our local Penneysaver; a weekly advertising supplement promoting local businesses, which allowed permission to copy the article.

Reason number two: We are all animal lovers in our family, so I found this anonymous tidbit thoroughly enjoyable, wanting to share it with all of you who are also animal lovers...or not. I guarantee it'll get a chuckle or two out of anyone who reads it, unless you're having a particularly bad day. If that's the case, the "Origin of Pets" will put you in a better mood.

Reason number three: The third reason is at the end so as not ruin the twist.

Origin of Pets

A newly discovered chapter in the Book of Genesis has provided the answer to "Where do pets come from?"

Adam said, "Lord, when I was in the garden, you walked with me every day. Now I do not see you anymore. I am lonesome here and it is difficult for me to remember how much you love me."

And God said. "No problem! I will create a companion for you that will be with you forever and who will be a reflection of my love for you, so that you will love me even when you cannot see me. Regardless of how selfish or childish or unlovable you may be, this new companion will accept you as you are and will love you as I do, in spite of yourself."

And God created a new animal to be a companion for Adam. And it was a good animal. And God was pleased. And the new animal was pleased to be with Adam and wagged it's tail.

And Adam said, "Lord, I have already named all the animals in the Kingdom and I cannot think of a name for this new animal."

And God said, "No problem. Because I have created this new animal to be a reflection of my love for you, his name will be a reflection of my own name, and you will call him DOG." And dog lived with Adam and was a companion to him and loved him. And Adam was comforted. And God was pleased. And dog was content and wagged it's tail.

After a while, it came to pass that Adam's guardian angel came to the Lord and said, "Lord, Adam has become filled with pride. He struts and preens like a peacock and he believes he is worthy of adoration. Dog has indeed taught him that he is loved, but perhaps too well."

And God said, "No problem! I will create for him a companion who will be with him forever and who will see him as he is. The companion will remind him of his limitations, so he will know that he is not always worthy of adoration."

And God created CAT to be a companion to Adam. And cat would not obey Adam.

Reason number three: I needed to share this with all of you because I took my feline pal, Bear to have his teeth cleaned today. Nothing serious, just routine, but the inherent risks of anesthesia kept me somewhat fearful of his well-being and in tears most of the morning. When I came across this gem called, "Origin of Pets" in my computer files, I dried my tears and laughed. Then the vet called. Bear is fine. I can pick him up in four hours, after he sleeps off the effects of anesthesia. I can't wait until he comes home.

If you are as big a bucket of slush as I am when it comes to the animals in your life, make a copy of "Origin" and save it in your computer files. Read as needed. It helps dry those tears. I think I'll make a copy and frame it.
