Hotels in San Francisco are much more expensive than other cities, especially those nearer the citys best tourist attractions.

Some people say that if you want an affordable hotel in San Francisco, you will have to forego quality and location to stay in one you prefer. In many instances, this is not true. Due to the increasing number of hotels in San Francisco, rates are dropping. You can find quality hotels at a more reasonable cost. The key to finding the most suitable hotel for you is to know where you can get the best value for your money.

Hotels in a tourist attraction, such as the Fishermans Wharf, cost over $300 a night on the average. Most tourists usually find these rates unaffordable. If you look around, you will quality hotels in this area for as little as $140 a night. When looking for hotels, the first one you will find may not necessarily be the best choice. There are some hotels that allow children below 18 years of age to stay for free. So, if you are traveling with your family, this will save you a lot of money.

If you really want to spend less, dont stay at hotels near the airport, since they are generally a lot more expensive than those near the central part of the city. Airport hotel rates are around 40% higher than those farther from the airport. For those who are cautious with their budget, hotels farther from the airport are a more popular choice.

Sometimes the kind of hotel you are looking for matter less. All you want is to find one that will not cost you too much. In San Francisco, there are many types and places to choose from.
